In case you who don't know me... I'm Julie... (hello!)

I'm a self taught artist and smartphone photographer, now back in my homeland in North Cornwall in the UK... (I was in Hertfordshire before, so you might have seen me there!)

After being taught that art was just a hobby, and something only to be done in your spare time (IF you had any spare time!!) I found my way back to my art in 2011...

Before re-discovering my creativity, frankly, I was frazzled.

A long story short, I discovered encaustic, and it changed my life!

I now help people experience encaustic for themselves.... which is a truly healing art form.

I've seen it's therapeutic benefits time and time again, so I'm now on a mission to share it with as many people as I can...

I had so many people say "I wish you were closer..." So, that's how my online courses were born..!

So far... people from the UK, Europe, America and Australia have joined...

HERE'S HOW THE COURSE WORKS:

The Art & Magic is divided into different areas to ensure you find the content you want quickly... With over 50+ videos and resources... You will want a bit of structure!

So whether it's irons, stylus, or mini hotplate techniques... you'll always find videos to inspire.

WHAT'S INSIDE...

PAINTING WITH THE IRON

First we go through the basics. Step by step tutorials, showing you how to set up your equipment, how to apply your first layer of wax and how to clean your iron.

Next, you will be shown how to create lots of beautiful shapes using different areas of your iron. Use the base, the edge, or the tip of the iron to create very different marks, experiment yourself and understand how to create those results.

After you've gained confidence in applying wax, and you're beginning to understand how to create textures, you're ready to pull all of those skills together and create your first monochrome and coloured fantasy landscapes...

At this point, you will have a GREAT grasp of the iron.

Taking those skills further, I'll show you how to buff and shine your new wax pictures.

You'll learn alternative techniques such as using your iron as a MINI HOTPLATE, and creating LARGE SCALE pieces if you want to take a step up.

We'll look at effects using coloured papers. By the end, you'll have learnt enough skills to confidently create beautiful unique creations of any size.

We even cover tips for mounting and framing your wax, to hang on your wall and making cards from your creations...!

This course has enough waxy ideas for you to put into practice and KEEP YOU ENTERTAINED FOR HOURS!

PAINTING WITH THE STYLUS

This is a beautiful tool... Great for adding finishing touches to all kinds of encaustic...

We start with trouble shooting of common problems I've seen many times over the years, once you've mastered these, your stylus will be your new favourite tool!

Next we move onto how to create light, airy, feathery effects. A very zen like activity, using the tiniest amounts of wax, with the slowest, softest, most gentle of touches. Wonderful for sitting quietly and loosing yourself in calming, gentle art for an hour or two.

How you can add finishing touches on top of existing wax paintings, it's a great technique to add embellishments, or highlight favourite areas.

Gain confidence in using your stylus, discover how to get the very most out of your equipment, from mark making, through to complex eye studies.
